The modern form of sparklers began to be produced later in Germany using iron wires coated with a mixture of gunpowder and metal filings. From there, they spread throughout Europe. Today, each sparkler consists of a non-flammable metal wire coated with a special mixture of metal powders such as aluminum or magnesium.

Safety and age: Sparklers usually belong to pyrotechnic category F1, making them among the safest fireworks. They are available from the age of 15. During burning, sparklers can reach temperatures of up to 1300 °C. Always hold them by the metal end, keep away from flammable materials and never light multiple sparklers at once. After use, let them cool down in sand or water. Never hang lit sparklers on a Christmas tree due to fire risk.
